I am a clinical psychologist. I completed my individual therapy training at Wits University and am currently engaged in ongoing advanced group-psychotherapy training at Ububele. Deciding to work with a therapist is not easy and you can be proud of wanting to make healthy changes in your life. Therapy involves a commitment of time, money, and energy, so be sure to select a therapist that is right for you and with whom you feel comfortable.

I enjoy working with a range of clients and most of the people who see me either seek general emotional growth (e.g. student psychologists) or seek help with long standing interpersonal difficulties (e.g. difficulties with intimacy, commitment, and trust), self-destructive or self-defeating behaviours, addictions and identity problems (e.g. feeling unsure who you are or of how others see you). I see mostly adults and adolescents but will also see some children for play therapy.

My work draws primarily from psychoanalytic and group-analytic approaches. These approaches aim for deep, significant and long-term change, which extends beyond managing symptoms (e.g. anxiety, depression, cutting etc.). The aim is to reach for your full potential and not just your previous best. This is not a “quick patch up solution”, and studies have shown that this form of intervention leads to durable results and additional benefits such as an improved sense of who you are and more satisfying relationships (PDM Task Force, 2006)1.

I am licensed to practice independently as a clinical psychologist through the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and am a member of the South African Psychoanalysis Initiative, the Cape Town Society of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and the American Group Psychotherapy Association.
