World Cup 2010 accommodation in Stellenbosch

By Greater Stellenbosch 2010, 07.04.10 | Comments

Greater Stellenbosch project ensures that fans and teams are accommodated in Stellenbosch during the games.

The World Cup football tournament in South Africa is only months away. As fans and teams prepare for their upcoming trip to the country, South Africa is gearing up to provide the best hospitality possible. Greater Stellenbosch 2010 is a project aimed at promoting Stellenbosch as a prime destination for visiting teams and fans during the World Cup tournament next year.

Stellenbosch is a 40-minute drive from Cape Town. The surrounding mountains, valleys and vineyards create a serene setting away from the crowds and traffic of the city. The town has a lot to offer in terms of accommodation - hotels, guest houses, bed and breakfasts, home-stays and economy rooms at the University residences. The University also provides first-rate sporting facilities at the Coetzenberg Sports Campus. These include indoor and outdoor training facilities.

Find the perfect Stellenbosch accommodation in 2010

"Stellenbosch is equipped to cater for a large influx of football fans, teams, officials and corporate guests in 2010," says Lize Esterhuizen of Greater Stellenbosch 2010. "We have many different types of accommodation available in the town, and options for every budget, from ultra-luxurious to economical."

Hotels

Various hotels in Stellenbosch offer luxurious accommodation. Luxury hotels also offer excellent cuisine and a range of world-class amenities.

Home-stays

A home-stay is an innovative type of accommodation that includes a cultural experience along with affordable lodging. Home-stays are offered in the Kayamandi and the Dwars River Valley just outside of Stellenbosch, and provide a comfortable room in a family environment. This keeps costs down and adds to the World Cup experience by teaching fans and tourists a little more about South African culture.

Guest Houses

Guest houses are reasonably affordable accommodation options that are comfortable, private and unique. There are guest houses situated throughout Stellenbosch, and also in a small town called Pniel, located between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

University Residences

For economical accommodation, the University of Stellenbosch will be providing accommodation in their halls of residence for 3,000 people. The rooms are basic and affordable but will offer everything a football fan will need for a comfortable stay.

Stellenbosch will also have a World Cup viewing screen, where fans can gather and watch matches with other football fans if they cannot attend the matches.  This will keep the spirit of the tournament alive in Stellenbosch throughout the duration of the World Cup.

The accommodation options in Stellenbosch provide a range of facilities - from basic to luxury options, ensuring that there is accommodation to suit everybody’s needs. Stellenbosch accommodation is located close enough to the city for fans and teams to access the Cape Town Stadium with ease.
