For visiting soccer teams to South Africa in 2010, the Greater Stellenbosch 2010 project provides a first-rate, fully-equipped training and support base. The project is an initiative of the Stellenbosch Municipality and the University of Stellenbosch. The town is situated just outside of Cape Town - one of the major host cities of the tournament and the location of one of the semi-final matches.
Stellenbosch is preparing to host visiting football teams and up to 6,000 football fans during the month-long tournament in July 2010. The 40-minute drive into the city, facilitated by excellent roads and transport networks, means that visiting teams will be transported with ease to Cape Town Stadium. The stadium is the city's largest, capable of seating up to 68,000 spectators.
Stellenbosch is an ideal choice for hosting those involved in the tournament, not only because of its close proximity to major transport routes and Cape Town International Airport, but also because of its superb training grounds.
