Cape Town entrepreneurs to get their own magazine!

For too long, Cape Town entrepreneurs have been sidelined in local publications, in favour of big business in Gauteng. Not only that, but small businesses have been largely ignored in favour of more established enterprises. That’s all about to change!

Realizing that there are very few business publications out there that cater to small businesses, in the pre start and start up stages, and youth owned businesses in particular, two Cape Town entrepreneurs have decided to address the issue!

Tamara Aspeling and Justin Lavelle, business owners in their own right, who fall into both the SMME and youth owned categories, have created a company, Caliente Media, which will be publishing a magazine specifically for this niche market in January 2009.

Says Aspeling “While we all know big business is in Johannesburg, we feel that Cape Town is the home of the entrepreneur. It’s high time we had a glossy, high end publication that caters to their needs in terms of content and affordable advertising.”

According to Aspeling, it’s the lack of information at this level that causes small businesses to flounder, and by offering valuable, easy to read and digest content, in a format that caters to these specific groups, these two young business people hope to help their fellow businesses get off the ground, and off to a running start.

From naming your company, to saving on office equipment and software, interviews with government officials tasked with assisting small business, and those involved in procurement, this new magazine packs a lot of information, and will be an invaluable tool to entrepreneurs and advertisers looking for business to business opportunities alike!

The face of entrepreneurship is changing, and it seems, New Business SA Magazine will be displaying that new face to the Cape!
