Affordable holidays

By Hennie Botes, 11.10.08 | Comments

Affordaholiday.com has conducted extensive research and determined that more than 6 million people are ready to travel more for leisure and holiday reasons - but  taking a holiday is expensive and not something the average South African can easily do.

Holidaymakers who can not afford the luxury apartments are left to the mercy of unregistered owners of damp, roach infested apartments that make their holiday a nightmare.

Holidaymakers have to make bookings way in advance to ensure that they get accommodation and have to pay a non refundable deposit. A lot of them, by the time they have to pay the balance, do not have the money and have to cancel their booking loosing their deposit.

This has the result that the owners of these resorts also have a loss and to make up for it they up their prices on their resorts making it even more unaffordable for the average holidaymaker. This is a loose loose situation in our view.

Our objective is to make it possible for the average man on the street to also enjoy the luxury of some of South Africa's top luxury holiday resorts at an affordable price.

We negotiated with some of the best resorts in South Africa and found that almost all cancelled bookings means that that particular apartment will stay empty for the duration of the cancelled booking. As there was already a non refundable deposit paid when booking was made we could negotiate a reduced rate for the outstanding balance.

We felt that if we can fill those empty apartments for the owners so their profit increases again they can lower their prices accordingly making it possible for the average person to go on holiday again.

That is why we offer you the opportunity to book your holiday through us at such a reduced price. We are not a holiday club and has nothing to do with time sharing neither do we own the resorts, so there are no levy's or yearly fees to pay.

Our only stumbling block at the moment, and we hope to rectify that soon, is that all bookings are payable cash in advance, otherwise the resorts are not interested. We also have to work on a "first come, first served" basis so in rare cases we might not be able to give you accommodation in a particular resort as advertised, but we will be able to offer something similar nearby.

We have agreements with over two hundred resorts in South Africa and even a few abroad. We have listed a few on the site and as you can see, they are all top notch resorts. We are confident that whatever your needs for a holiday, we can cater for it.

Our challenge is to again create a culture of holiday travel in our local market.
