International calls for 25c with FNB Connect

First National Bank’s (FNB) internet service provider, FNB Connect is slashing its international landline call rates to 25c per minute to 20 selected destinations in Africa, North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.

The offer is valid from 22 November 2009 until end of January 2010. This follows on from the reduced cellphone rate of 99c per minute (only applicable in RSA) announced by FNB Connect earlier this month.

It is estimated that there are about 1 million South Africans living in the alone and with high call charges it is becoming increasingly difficult to stay in touch with friends and family overseas, as a result FNB Connect has come up with another cost effective way to help FNB clients stay connected while saving them real money.

‘2009 has been a tough year for many South African consumers. The Season for giving and connecting with loved ones is here – cutting international rates is our way of giving back to our clients to enable them to connect with loved ones abroad without worrying about the phone bill at the end of the month.’ says Luis Simoes, CEO, FNB Connect.

The offer is not only limited to South Africans at home but South Africans who will be travelling abroad this holiday season, will also be able to connect with loved ones back home for much less. All they need to do is find a Wi-Fi hot spot and make calls from their Wi-Fi enabled cellphone using FNB Connect’s digital phone application, wherever they are in the world,’ explains Simoes.

FNB customers who are registered for internet banking can now also register for FNB Connect when they log on to do their banking on-line.
