Cape Town: Road Closures on M5 Southbound and Northbound Carriageways

As part of the Koeberg Interchange Upgrading it is essential for both the M5 Northbound and Southbound Carriageways to be closed to traffic. Closure on the M5 Southbound will occur between Section Street and Berkley Road and closures on the M5 Northbound will occur between Berkley Road and Section Street. These closures will operate between 20h00 and 05h00 every night starting from Wednesday 11 November 2009 and finishing on Friday 13 November 2009.

Motorist wishing to travel on the M5 southbound will be directed as follow:

1. Via Milnerton / Brooklyn:
   Directed into Section Street, through Paarden Eiland onto the N1 via Marine Drive and will be directed back to Maitland/Muizenberg via Lower Church Streetand Voortrekker Road.
2. Via N1 Outgoing:
   Directed to Maitland/Muizenberg via Lower Church into Voortrekker, join Cannon and then connect with the M5 via Berkley Road

Motorist wishing to travel on the M5 Northbound will be directed as follows:

1. Due to the nature of the closure the link onto the N1 incoming will remain open. Motorists (from both the M5 Northbound and Koeberg Road Northbound) will be directed intothe linkonto the N1 incoming and directed onto Marine Drive. Motorist wishing to travel to Brooklyn or the N1 Paarl will then be direct to Section Street to connect with the N1 after Northgate Island.

Motorists are advised to make alternative arrangements where possible.
