Online has proved it’s the ability to connect people in remote places. Now, a country recruitment website specializing in jobs in small towns,   is offering an alternative career path to life in the fast lane.  www.countrycareers.co.za is the first career portal in South Africa that focuses exclusively on jobs outside of the major metropolitan areas of South Africa, and encourages job seekers to consider country living in their career choices.

Claire Bennette, Country Careers director, explains the concept, “Country Careers enables people to match a serious career with the benefits of country living, as there are many corporate employers situated in country areas that offer excellent careers opportunities in senior positions.”

Clients such as the University of Stellenbosch, Kaap Agri, Pioneer Foods and Medi-Clinic, have already advertised a range of excellent positions on the site.

“Companies operating in platteland areas often have difficulty in attracting good candidates to fill their vacancies and they have welcomed countrycareers.co.za as an innovative new vehicle to help them attract top quality talent,” says Bennette.

The service is available at no cost to job seekers, and Country Careers is working with corporates, independent businesses and recruitment agencies to offer quality opportunities. “We want to attract talented and skilled staff to rural areas – It’s a complete misconception that no good jobs exist outside the cities,” says Bennette.

Countrycareers.co.za will initially focuses on job opportunities in all the major “Platteland” regions of . In May 2008, it consistently advertised more than 600 opportunities and attracted almost 30 000 visitors to the website in that month.
