Hirsch Recycling Centre Still Going Strong
In October 2010 Hirsch’s Pietermaritzburg and Wildlands Conservation Trust set up a recycling village at the back of their premises off Chatterton Road. The colour-coded village offers the public a site to dispose of their waste.
“The village is still going strong and it is heartwarming to see the effort that residents put in to do what they can to assist in slowing down the depletion of rapidly declining natural sources. The location of the village is easily accessible to the public and Hirsch staff keep the area clean and assist clients when they visit the village.” Said Nasreen Mohamed, assistant manager Hirschs PMB.
Wildlands collects a variety of waste — glass, plastic, cans, polystyrene, cardboard, waxed cartons, newspapers, magazines and a mix of papers — from schools and businesses and recycles them with the help of business like Hirsch’s
Nasreen would like to thank all residents who have taken time to recycle and bring waste to Hirsch’s.
