ICC World Cup T20

We are past the group already and I haven’t even had time to recover from the IPl just a few weeks ago.

South Africa alongside India & Sri Lanka made it to the Super 8 round as favorites with the likes of West Indies, England, New Zealand, Pakistan & Ireland. Surprisingly Australia didn’t make it, they lost their crucial match against Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. Their fans can argue their minds are on the Ashes series, but for a proud nation like the Aussies it must be a bitter pill to swallow.

The South African outfit is better prepared than ever for a tournament of this kind. All their stalwarts played great in the IPL, AB is in the groove, Gibbs & Kallis is playing with rejuvenated youth & our bowlers is coming into their own. Remember how we exited the 2007 tournament by losing just 1 match? This time we have decent all rounders in Van Der Merwe & the Morkel brothers that can turn a game in an instant. We won our two group games. Scotland by the second biggest defeat ever & New Zealand by 1 run in a tight game.

Sri Lanka`s star filled them can wipe any team off the field, but they can collapse just as easily. They are not constant enough. India on the other hand is constant. They lost Sewag to injury & have tough games ahead against Wets Indies with captain Chris Gale as front man, & England at Lords.

From a spectators view I hope to Ireland can produce an upset. Never say never! You cannot write off any team in such a format as the Netherlands proved by beating England in the opening match, but I say talent overrule luck at the end of the day.

So come on Proteas! South African fan expects you in the final, I want you to bring the trophy home. The Proteas deserve it, Mickey Arthur deserves it, South Africa deserves it. We as loyal fans deserve to rub it into the faces of their Aussies
