New Zealand Management Company Boosts Competitiveness

By Trade Ocean, 07.07.11 | Comments

In a desperate bid to increase the cover of its freight company, a New Zealand based shipping company launched by Fonterra and Silver Fern Farms will now service over a third of all the containers within New Zealand and for any container leaving New Zealand. The company will be called Kotahi and will begin exporting its goods come the 1st of August and will aim to bring together the myriad importers and exporters who are currently scrambling for top position in the shipping game.

It will create what New Zealand is now calling a ‘sea change’ and it will most assuredly place a strain on the shipping capabilities of the air freight business. Now, the competition across the world will look upon the power of New Zealand shipping as a key player in the global market. The staple diet of New Zealand is exporting and importing. Last year alone the collective business from this market was well over fourty billion dollars. This is what many would call a massive story of success but as the global market matures, the propensity for other countries to take over as the top ranking freight companies grows ever stronger.

New Zealand is a very remote country and managing to generate so much revenue from such an isolated position is incredible. It is said that it is their ability to offer faster transit times and a reliable sea freight network which keeps New Zealand’s clients coming back for more is highly welcomed.  Once this is completed (the setting up of the massive new shipping network) the other forms of transportation namely air, rail and road will naturally up their game in order to remain relevant.

As a management company on the brink of success, their forward thinking ideas have been applauded by the GM Iain Hill and he has said that this collaboration is excellent for New Zealand as a whole.
