Wind Turbines Facing Uphill Battle
Wind turbine technology has proven to be a true boon to society and thanks to them; we are now able to harness the strength of nature in order to power our homes. Yet over the years, their price has not been easy to swallow – point in fact, a New Zealand based outfit located in Christchurch known as Windflow Technology is now looking to license its superior wind turbines to overseas manufacturers; this will of course cost the workers in Christchurch their jobs.
It is now also looking to rent out its manufacturing space as according to them, the market for the wind turbine in Christchurch has come to a halt. Earlier this year, Windflow Technology had hoped to take advantage of the British governments feed-in tariff scheme which offered a series of incentives for all small-scale businesses which focused on low-carbon electricity generation. Solar water heaters are on the same scale as wind turbines, as they also use the elements for energy, yet they are having a far better time fiscally. The British government decided to announce a review to this plan though, a review which would all but bankrupt the wind turbine business.
This now produced an immediate loss of sales and the company has been forced to settle on staff cutbacks. A total of seventeen wind turbine devices have been sold and the company is unfortunately not in a position to withdraw any of its staff cutbacks. Companies such as these rely on tenders from various companies, as well as government schemes, consequently if any of these are taken away it will be impossible for them to survive on their own. Thankfully, this wind turbine company is licensed to operate across the world and their next target is the US, where they will hopefully be able to leverage their products to an international audience.
