New Identity’ Showcases @ ‘The Gallery’ & A Collaborative Exhibition Of The Past 5 Years Artists
This exhibition aims to promote open, individual communication regarding the existence and development of a new identity in a culturally diverse country in its ‘defiant’ adolescence. ‘New Identity’ aspires to expose the various participating artists’ orientation from a personal, landscape, portrait or abstract point of view, in order to identify possible analogies. It references to questions relating to a new identity as a trend or sub-culture and confronts the existence or possibility of a sustainable, authentic identity, also the existential right of the intellectual individual.
Participating artists include Dustin Kramer, JP Meyer, Madelein Marincowitz, Dale Yudelman, Zhann Solomons, Bongi Bengu, Louise Hall, Gordon Froud, Anton Smit, Ruhan Janse van Vuuren among others.
During this time, the launch of the ‘Complete storeroom’ exhibition will showcase in ‘The Cathedral’ at The Gallery until Wednesday 30, August and is a collaborative exhibition of all the artists that have been involved with The Gallery in the past five years. The renowned Ceramics Exhibition will showcase in The ‘Shop’ with the aim to establish the development and change that artists undergo over a number of years in order to encourage collectors and visitors to view and acquire works by artists from certain periods in their careers.
