Luxury Mozambique Accommodation on the Beach

By Theoline Rasebotsa, 20.01.11 | Comments
One of the best ways to explore Mozambique is from its spectacular tropical beaches. Book in to Southern Sun Maputo, with its great views of the Indian Ocean, and indulge yourself for as long as you need to unwind.

A walk along the sandy shores, a boat ride or an easy dive around the world-famous coral reefs should do the trick. If that feels too strenuous, simply stroll back to your Mozambique accommodation and lie next to the pool with a good book to read.

If you have to travel to this former Portuguese colony on business, be sure to stay in luxury Mozambique accommodation that can offer distractions from work after hours. Southern Sun Maputo has a fully equipped business centre and conference rooms in addition to its 158 guest rooms, but it is close to a range of entertainment that includes a casino, soccer stadium, game reserve, markets, nightclubs and more restaurants if you want to explore in your leisure time.

Mozambique has an afro-Portuguese culture, which you can experience through its architecture, cuisine (particularly seafood dishes), markets, museums and live music venues.

Southern Sun Maputo offers Mozambique accommodation a short distance from the Island of Mozambique, off the north coast of the country. The island is a world heritage site where you can see majestic old buildings, churches and mosques built by the Arabs and Portuguese who first lived there.

Look up the Church of Miseriacorda, which dates back to 1535, and its wonderful artwork. It exhibits statues of the Queen of Portugal and Santa Isabel, carvings, paintings and religious ornaments that reflect the history of the island. If you can tear yourself away from your Mozambique accommodation long enough, you'll also find a statue of 16th century poet Luis de Camoes in the quaint town.
