Mine Machine Productivity in Africa
Marcus Evans proudly presents the Mine Machine Productivity to be held on the 24th and 25th February 2011 in Crowne Plaza, The Rosebank Hotel, Johannesburg, South Africa. This conference will highlight through practical case studies and panel discussions the vital role that machinery plays in all mining operations and its importance, whether utilising traditional mining methods or mechanised methods.
South Africa has about $2.5 trillion (R18 trillion) worth of reserves, with $2.3 trillion of these in platinum group metals. This gives South Africa an advantage as it can expand its mining capacity over the decades. With this amount of reserves and potential in the mining sector coupled with the rise in commodity prices after the global recession, the mining sector is moving upward quickly. By increasing productivity through key planning, upgrading of machinery and energy efficient mining methods, the sector can continue to grow and develop.
With the current boom in commodity prices and the increase in mineral demand, mines need to ensure that their equipment is in perfect working order to ensure continuous productivity to reap the rewards and regain stability in the sector.
Mine Machine Productivity will be officiated by James Mufara, Mine Manager Operations, Gold Fields. Mr. James will also be featuring two interactive panel discussions on discussing the legislations governing the mining industry and its effect on mechanisation and debating the effects of moving towards mechanised mining and addressing labour issues
Other speakers at the event include representatives from National Union of Mine Workers, Anglo Gold Ashanti Ghana, Novel Mining and Autonomous Mining Methods, Raise Mining, Anglo American, Kariba Minerals Limited, Mapatizya Mine Zambia, DebTech, a division of De Beers Group, Anglo Coal, New Vaal Colliery, Debswana, Orapa and Letlhakane Mines Botswana, Central Energy Fund, De Beers Group and Form.
