World Renowned Chef Toasts Summer With New Menu Launch

Newly appointed Executive Chef, Henrico Grobbelaar, of Cape Town’s best Restaurant proudly presents his new summer menu in Azure. Available until the end of April 2011 guests visiting the award-winning Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, can indulge in an exciting selection of culinary experiences, including an assortment of festive menus.  

Grobbelaar, Captain for the Culinary Team South Africa, recently led his team to victory winning three silver medals competing in the Culinary World Cup at the 11th 'Salon International de la Gastronomie' (International Gastronomy Show) in Luxembourg. This extraordinary achievement, affirming the Hotel’s reputation as gourmet par excellence in Cape Town, will certainly be a hot favourite for the season.

Grobbelaar showcases his talents with the new à la carte summer menu in Azure, where guests choose from an indulgent selection of innovative dining options, featuring seven new categories coupled with fine wines from the extensive wine cellar presented by the award-winning Sommelier, Luvo Ntezo.

From the start includes a selection of delicious starters such as pan fried scallops with Hollandaise, The Twelve Apostles fresh vegetable salad, crayfish and prawn cocktail, oysters natural, Oudtshoorn crocodile carpaccio, asparagus and goat’s cheese tart and more.

From the Soil presents guests with sumptuous mushroom and tofu lasagne and Fynbos vegetable curry while From the Sea tantalises taste buds with a grilled seafood platter, crispy fried abalone seafood espetada, pot roasted sole and prawn pasta. From the Air offers oven roasted duck, roasted baby chicken and Cape Malay curry.

The Hotel is the first property in the Southern Hemisphere to have installed the new JOSPER oven-grill aptly called ‘The Beast’, which allows an even greater standard of grilling that is evident in the From the Land and From the Grill menu options.

For the grand finale, From the Confectionary presents decadent desserts such as the Red Carnation’s President and Founders famous cheesecake together with Rooibos crème brûlée, white chocolate tart, apple tart tartin, gooseberry parfait. If you prefer a savory treat choose the scrumptious South African cheese board consisting of an assortment of fine cheese such as of brie, blue rock, chevin and matured farmhouse cheddar with celery sticks, home made makataan preserve and kumquat chutney, all served with crackers.

To celebrate the festive season guests can entertain a delicious five-course Christmas Eve Dinner menu in the award-winning Azure Restaurant priced R670.00 per person. For those who prefer to dine alfresco, the Atlantic Terrace offers a three-course Carvery Buffet priced at R545 per person. These two superb venues both include a festive welcome drink on arrival, live entertainment, tea and coffee with mince pies and party favours to enjoy the holiday cheer.                                  

For Christmas Lunch, families and friends can experience the magic of a fun filled day of giving when feasting on two scrumptious buffets created to delight every palate, Accompanied by live music, choose the Azure Restaurant’s four-course Carvery Buffet prices at R945.00 per person or the Atlantic Terrace Marquee’s four-course Carvery Buffet is R745.00 per person.   When joining for Christmas Even lunch or dinner, children younger than 2 years will dine free of charge and children from 2 to 12 years at half the price.

Bid farewell to a memorable 2010 and welcome in 2011 at this world class setting for an extravagant five-course New Year’s Eve Menu in the Azure Restaurant along with live entertainment. Cost R1, 650 per person and includes a Kir Royale on arrival, traditional treats and a glass of Champagne at midnight.

Azure Restaurant is open from 12:30 – 15:30 for lunch and for dinner from 18:00 – 22:30.
