The five-star Marataba Safari Company, part of the Hunter Hotels Group and a member of the Relais & Châteaux Association, located in the heart of Limpopo’s Marakele National Park is proud to have become a sponsor and supporter of the ‘Sappi BirdLife South Africa Birding Big Day’ in the annual bird-counting initiative taking place on Saturday 27, November 2010.
Arie Swiegers, Head Ranger accompanied by Riaan Jacobs and Ryan de Beer will represent Marataba by recording all the bird species seen or heard in and around the lodge during a 24-hour period.
States Sjani Cuyler, General Manager: “We are extremely proud to be participating in this initiative as it allows us the opportunity to help with worldwide bird research, something we are extremely passionate about at Hunter Hotels. Marataba is an incredible location for bird watching and this initiative certainly goes hand in hand with our own conservation aims.”
Marataba is also one of the key sponsors of the event and will provide one night’s luxury accommodation for two guests to one lucky prize winner.
The ‘Sappi BirdLife South Africa Birding Big Day’ raises much needed funds every year for Birdlife South Africa's significant bird conservation programmes.
