Camp Jabulani Invited To Address World Savers Congress
Here she was given the stage to report on the fact that small resorts and hotels in South Africa have long been on the cutting edge regarding wildlife protection and the fight against global warming. Other topics discussed were the economic viability of saving the planet while still growing your business, and wastage problems and how to create ways of overcoming them.
Fortunately for a relatively small lodge like Camp Jabulani food wastage is not a problem, but for large hotel groups this is one of the biggest they face. Awards such as this one helps to create awareness for the environmental and wildlife work done at Camp Jabulani and the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, but more importantly they motivate everyone concerned to continue with their efforts and accomplishments (as evidenced in the successes of the past 21 years), and to strive for even better results in the future.
Comments Adine Roode, “It was fascinating to listen to feedback from attendees from all corners of the globe, yet disheartening to learn that many are still not committed to corporate social responsibility. There was however an incredible amount of positivity from the Congress, such as Willie Smits – the 2010 Environmental Award winner who has combated deforestation by planting close to a million trees in North Sulawesi. He also runs an orangutan rescue foundation.
A big thank you to Klara Glowczewska, Jon Paul Buchmeyer and Dorinda Elliot at Conde Nast Traveler for acknowledging the travel industry. Their unwavering commitment to this cause has proved that it is indeed possible to affect positive change through the media. Together we can create awareness and solve global problems.”
