LOWTIDE IN THE BUSHVELD: SkyDiving into Africas biggest Beach Party!

It’s late afternoon in the Pilanesburg. A powerful roar breaks the silence, but this is no lion – it is the sound of a Turbine Atlas Angel, this particular Angel is proudly named “Uriel”.  Climbing to, and descending from great altitudes incredibly quickly this aircraft is purpose built for, and dedicated to sports skydiving at a drop zone close by, Right now, this Angel has 2 intrepid skydivers aboard who are preparing for a thrilling jump in to an inland Beach Paradise in the middle of the African Bush.

At 3 500 feet, with the sliding door wide open, Mike Rumble and Graham Field size up the landing area, which, like their method of arrival, is considered somewhat extreme. They are about to swoop down in to an inland paradise where perfect 4-foot barrels are breaking onto gleaming white sands packed with bikini clad revelers, landing along the beach… with their Hurricane Sports Parachutes.  The Valley of Waves at Sun City where the Stimorol Spring Break 2010 is in full swing.

As Professional PRO-Rated SkyDivers, Mike and Graham are used to a skydiving challenge, the challenging landing area and packed beach paradise in the middle of the African bush below has their full concentration and focus.

Angel Pilot Heinrich throttles back the turbine engine, lowering the speed of the aircraft that Mike and Graham can climb out of the aircraft nice and relaxed.  As they are hanging outside Graham shouts to Mike “Feel The Rush”, showing him a packet of Stimorol.  A few seconds of freefall then their parachutes open and fly gracefully in the late afternoon bush sky. 

The excited screams get louder and louder as, one after another, Mike and Graham make their final turns, lining themselves up, legs through just through the tops of the trees, along the beach between the rolling waves and the soft sand.  The air adventurers control their Hurricane Parachutes impeccably, stopping right in the middle of the biggest inland beach party ever.

Uriel’s tattooed angel wings flash in the sun as the aircraft performs a fly-past wing wagging salute to the parachutists and heads back to SkyDive Rustenburg to do just one more drop before sun set. 

Mike lets out a “Whoop Whoop”, Graham lets out a “Whooo Haaar” - another great parachute display at a fantastic party on another excellent day in Africa.
