Taking you back in time a few years, and in the life of a teenager just looking for an escape. Many teens in Johannesburg craved a party as much as the over 18s, problem was, where could they go to be free? The Italian Club, based in Bedfordview, was the solution to their problem.

The Italian Club was started by Maurizo Bazan. His aim was to have a safe environment for kids who wanted to get into the party scene without the dangers of alcohol and drugs. Every weekend it was packed to capacity, and parents were happy dropping their kids off to allow them to get rid of their pent up energy. But sadly, in 2007, the Italian Club closed. But thanks to Lior Manelis, director of Pristine Moods Events , the memories of the club are not lost.

There’s a commonly known saying, “The DJ can make or break a party”, and the calibre of DJ’s associated with this company have a reputation for not only creating a party, but leaving  the myriad of people talking about the event for weeks afterwards.

Lior and Pristine Moods recently hosted an Italian Club reunion. For all of you whom the Italian Club elicits fond memories, I’m sure you attended. If not, shame. Do not pass go. Do not collect R200. Go straight to jail.

The initial Italian Club reunion was held 2 years ago was such a hit, that Pristine Moods did it again. And again. Held on Friday the 28th of May, an impressive turn out people arrived to relive their days of partying to classics such as “Better off Alone”, “Life is a Highway” and “Grease Lightning”.

The mood was right, the DJ’s were on top form and the drinks were flowing. Maurizio Bazan, the club founder, started the night off on a great nostalgic note, followed by Lior himself, who never fails to impress. Guest appearance by celebrity DJ IanF also brought back old memories of the Italian Club in its best days. DJ Shawny B arrived later on in the night to keep the crowd entertained and after the free shooters and champagne giveaways, the party animals were more than keen to fly back in time, reminiscing and partying into the morning.

The crowd varied, people aged 20 – 50 danced the night away. All taking a trip down memory lane, all sentimental and everyone.... at least a shot or two down. Looking back on the pictures from that debaucherous yet memorable night, people would laugh hysterically, cry fondly, and possibly even say “Oh no I didn’t! In front of everyone???”  Despite the uncooperative and oh-so-chilly weather, one thing all who attended can agree is that was one crazy party. The next one cannot come soon enough. “
