Multi award-winning jazz saxophonist, Moreira Chonguica accompanied by his band, The Moreira Project, will perform at the much-anticipated Ubuntu Festival, which will see the launch of Mandela Day on Sunday 18, July at 14:00 at the St Georges Mall, Cape Town. The objective of the event is also to encourage Capetonians to embrace the spirit of Ubuntu on the way forward and ensure that the 'gees' of the World Cup is not a passing phase but a way of life.

This charismatic performer will grace the stage by providing a high spirited performance consisting of a selection of Pan-African jazz fusion tracks taken from both his very successful sell out albums - 'The Moreira Project:  Volume I - 'The Journey’ and ‘The Moreira Project:  Volume 2 – ‘Citizen of the World, which have won him prestigious local and international awards.

States a humbled Moreira: “Having the opportunity to be a part of this memorable occasion in honour of South Africa’s most loved icon, Nelson Mandela, is a huge privilege for me.”

Mandela Day coincides with Nelson Mandela’s 91st birthday with the overall theme of ‘Ubuntu’ - the essence of being human.’

2010 will see many other career highlights for Moreira as he continues to perform countrywide. Updates on his gigs and upcoming events can be found on www.Facebook.com/moreirac .
