Workshop : Understanding Competitive Intelligence (CI)

By Claudene Whitehead, 29.01.09 | Comments

The purpose of the three-day workshop is to demystify competitive intelligence (CI) and to create an awareness of the increasing importance of CI for businesses.

Have you ever been surprised by events in your industry, by competitors, or by a customer/supplier? To survive some of the turbulence in their environments more and more companies are investing in the competitive intelligence process.

Most of the leading corporations in the world use intelligence to provide insight, to enrich analysis and to reduce the risk of "ivory tower" business decisions.

The changes in the global economy, the digital age, new markets and uncertainty have all contributed to the need for new business tools and different strategies to enhance the future.

Succeeding in today's competitive business environment demands innovative approaches and fresh thinking. One of the key aims of the workshop is to involve and to provide decision-makers, managers and business unit leaders with the insight to understand competitive intelligence and how it differs from other streams of management information practices.

The workshop is an introduction to the concepts of CI and offers those professionals new to CI a comprehensive overview of CI. After attending this workshop participants will be able to use intelligence to help create and sustain winning strategies, apply systematic frameworks for defining intelligence requirements, identify the resources needed to build and manage an effective intelligence system within their organisations and initiate more effective counterintelligence practices to protect confidential company information.

You should participate if you are involved in business development, marketing and market research, brand, product and sales management, competitive intelligence, business intelligence, mergers and acquisitions, research and development, planning and general management.

CI is unique to all other company information. It provides information and a mechanism to look at and project the future, otherwise unavailable to executives. This involves keeping track competitors competitors, their plans, intentions, customers, adjusting own plans, etc, vital for survival in a global economy.
